Distillery Visits
Distillery tours are the heart of what we do on the Bourbon Trail. We work with different distilleries across Kentucky to craft an itinerary that represents the best of the Bourbon and Rye industry. Some of these are newer distilleries that have opened recently to the public. Others are the classics. We mix both to give a good representation of it all.
Charles Grabitzky, the whiskey specialist of Rascal + Thorn, is leading this tour.
Unique Excursions
Not only are we getting to visit many of the famous Bourbon distilleries in Kentucky, but we will have some special arrangements to production areas and private tastings.
This trip will highlight some of the newer and beautiful distilleries that are found on the trail now including Bardstown Bourbon Company and Castle & Key. These are great experiences and names to watch in the future with special releases.
Dining
Food is always an important part of a Bourbon Trail tour! Louisville is one of the powerhouse dining centers of the South. Included in this Bourbon Trail Tour are two group dinners at great restaurants to enjoy some of this fine cuisine.
The group dynamic makes a trip like this fun as we can all experience the distilleries during the day, and the food and drink in the eve.
We will have lunch every day between distillery visits.
Wednesday – Arrive in Louisville for a 4-night stay. Peerless Distillery Tour in the afternoon. Evening group dinner in Louisville.
Thursday – After breakfast at the hotel, we leave and hit the trail. Early visit to Independent Stave Cooperage. Tour and experience at Bardstown Bourbon Co followed by lunch at Bottled in Bond. Afternoon experience at Maker’s Mark. We return to Louisville for a free evening.
Friday – After breakfast at the hotel, we visit Vendome Copper Works to see the stills being made. We then head to Castle & Key for a distillery tour and lunch. Afternoon visit to Buffalo Trace. Dinner near Lexington before returning to Louisville for the night.
Saturday – After breakfast at the hotel, we head north and visit some of the newer distilleries on the trail including Neely Family Distillery, Boone County and New Riff. Dinner on own back in Lousiville.
Sunday – Departure from Louisville after breakfast at the hotel.
Please note, itinerary is subject to change as things are still recovering from the restrictions of COVID.
